Founder: Jaylen Babb-Harrison, Professional Barber & Professional Basketball Player.

Barbering is a family tradition. At the age of 12 my father and uncles pushed me to learn how to cut both my own hair and my sibling's hair, sparking my passion for barbering. Fast Forward to High school, I was hired by John McCalla as an intern at Modern Edge Barber shop. He showed me the correct way on how to cut and approach my craft in a professional way. While working at the barber shop, I received a full athletic scholarship and moved to Kentucky to play basketball for the Eastern Kentucky Colonels.

While pursuing my degree in Risk Management and Insurance, I continued to hone my craft in my university apartment all while playing basketball at the division 1 level. After receiving my bachelor’s degree, I took a break from basketball and Ian Grimes hired me at Essence hair studio, a reputable barber shop in my hometown of Ajax, Ontario. This created the unique routine of playing professional basketball and being a professional barber in the off-season. While also always being the team or league barber during basketball season. As I level up in basketball, I am simultaneouly levelling up the Brand of JBH Fresh.

Our brand now offers elite barbering services along with premium hair, beard and personal grooming products.

During COVID, I was unable to play basketball so I turned my full attention to barbering. I really locked into my craft and perfected it. Naturally the next move for me was helping people outside of just my chair, this is where the JBH Fresh product line came in. I wanted to find a way I could help people all over the world while I was continuing to build on my practice from home. Something I am passionate about it is confidence. Whether on the court of just out and about, I want people to feel confident in themselves regardless of where they were or what position they were in.

Basketball is my first love, but as I grow older my passion for barbering grows with it. Seeing people leave my chair happier means a lot to me. In the chair, I am able to help change people's lives, motivate them, help them look good, and help them with everyday life. Not only does it inspire me to pursue barbering more, but also contributes to my community in a positive way. Being a positive role model in my community means a lot to me, but it's more than just a cut. I love cutting hair but I love the positive impact it leaves on my clients even more.
